In this visual novel game, Metamorphosis, players will go on an emotional journey by utilizing the click and drag game mechanic. This project explores how multiple disciplines come together to create an interactive experience, specifically with storytelling. This game is about family, culture and adaption.
The Metamorphosis aligns with some of my personal experience and hopes to spread the message over exile and changes. Using symbolism, I create this experimental visual novel, where I portray characteristics through the images and gameplay.

Character Design
Inspired by the book called Metamorphosis, I employ stereotypical symbolism to depict characters.
Narration
The major characteristic of the game is the repetitive monologue. The monologue provides contextual information that builds the player avatar.
By exposing the narrator’ internal thoughts and struggles, it creates emotional connection between the character and player. Since the game is in first person, the player will have a sense of their identity in the game setting. The distinct monologue makes the transition of the narrator more explicit, which further enhances the narration.
